Privacy Policy

How Right Choice Plumbing collects, uses, stores and protects the personal information of our customers and website visitors.

Last updated: May 27, 2026

Right Choice Plumbing ("we," "us," "our") is a licensed and insured plumbing and drainage company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights as a customer or website visitor.

This policy is intended to be consistent with the British Columbia Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, Canada's federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). By using our website at rightchoiceplumbing.ca or by booking, requesting a quote from, or hiring Right Choice Plumbing, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information as described below.

1. Information We Collect

We only collect personal information that we genuinely need to quote, schedule, perform and warranty our plumbing services, or to operate this website. The kinds of information we may collect include:

  • Contact details - your name, phone number, email address and the service address where you'd like a plumber to attend.
  • Job details - descriptions of your plumbing or drainage issue, photos or videos you choose to send us, access notes (e.g. gate codes, pet info), and notes our technicians make on site.
  • Billing information - the name on the invoice, billing address and method of payment. Credit and debit card details are processed by our third-party payment processor; we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications - the content of emails, text messages, voicemails, online forms and online-booking submissions you send to us.
  • Website usage data - basic technical information your browser sends automatically (IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring URL, timestamps), plus any analytics or error-monitoring data described in Section 6 (Cookies & Analytics) below.

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not collect sensitive categories of personal information (e.g. health, financial account credentials, government ID numbers) unless absolutely necessary for a specific service you've asked us to perform.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information you provide for the following purposes:

  • To respond to quote requests, booking enquiries, calls and emails.
  • To dispatch a licensed plumber to your address and complete the work you've requested.
  • To prepare estimates, quotes, invoices and warranty records.
  • To communicate with you about your appointment - confirmations, technician ETA updates, follow-ups, warranty claims and service reminders.
  • To process payments and resolve billing questions.
  • To improve our services, train our team, and review our own quality of work.
  • To comply with our legal, regulatory, insurance and tax obligations under BC and Canadian law.
  • With your consent, to send occasional marketing emails such as seasonal maintenance reminders or promotions. You can opt out at any time (see Section 8).

3. Legal Basis & Consent

We collect, use and disclose personal information based on your consent, which may be express (for example, when you submit a quote form) or implied by the circumstances (for example, when you call us and ask us to come fix a burst pipe, you are clearly consenting to us collecting the information needed to do that job).

You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. If you withdraw consent for information we need to provide a service, we may not be able to continue providing that service.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade or otherwise share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share information only in these limited circumstances:

  • Our licensed plumbing technicians who will be performing the work at your property.
  • Service providers we rely on to operate our business - for example, our website host, online-booking platform, accounting/invoicing software, email and SMS delivery providers, payment processor, parts suppliers, and (where applicable) sub-contracted specialty trades. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and only use it for the specific service we hired them to provide.
  • Insurance, legal and regulatory bodies - if we have a legitimate need to investigate a claim, comply with a court order or summons, respond to a request from a government authority, or protect our rights, property or safety.
  • In a business transition - if we sell, merge or reorganize our business, customer information may be transferred as part of that transaction. The acquiring entity will be required to honour this Privacy Policy or notify you of any material changes.

5. Data Storage, Retention & Security

We store personal information primarily on servers and cloud platforms located in Canada and the United States. Some of our service providers may store data in other jurisdictions; in those cases the information may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions, including lawful access by law enforcement or government authorities.

We retain personal information only for as long as we need it to provide our services, satisfy our warranty obligations, comply with our tax and accounting obligations under Canadian law (typically a minimum of seven years for invoice records), and resolve any disputes. Once information is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymize it.

We use reasonable physical, technical and administrative safeguards to protect personal information - including HTTPS encryption on this website, password-protected systems, limited employee access on a need-to-know basis, and secure document disposal. No system is 100% secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Cookies & Website Analytics

Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working properly and to understand how visitors use it. These typically include:

  • Strictly necessary cookies required for core site functionality, such as remembering form input or accessibility preferences.
  • Analytics cookies that help us understand which pages are popular, which cities our visitors come from at a high level, and how to improve the site. These are configured to anonymize IP addresses where technically possible.
  • Conversion / advertising tags - if we run paid Google, Facebook or other ads, these tags help us measure which ads led to a phone call or quote request. They do not store your name or contact details.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not function correctly. You can also opt out of common analytics platforms via the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on and the Digital Advertising Alliance of Canada opt-out tool.

7. Third-Party Links

Our website may link to third-party websites - for example, supplier warranty pages, social media profiles, or our online-booking system. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites. Please review their own privacy policies before sharing any personal information with them.

8. Your Rights & Choices

Under BC PIPA and Canadian PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and ask for a copy of it;
  • Correct any personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Withdraw consent for further use of your information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions;
  • Unsubscribe from any marketing emails or text messages by using the unsubscribe link provided, replying STOP, or simply emailing us;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) if you believe we have mishandled your information.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at quotes@rightchoiceplumbing.ca or call 604-330-9695. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, and we will respond within 30 days as required by law.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page tells you when it was most recently revised. Your continued use of our website or services after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
